Artist Of The Month
SHARON VENTURA

SKINNY MODELS NEED NOT APPLY FOR ARTIST SHARON VENTURA

Sharon Ventura’s painting exhibit of full-figured women runs Saturday, June 2nd to Friday, June 29th, at the Eclectic Gallery (inside Goodden Jewellers) with an opening on Saturday, June 2nd 2007
from 2:30 –4:30p.m.

Ventura designs and paints the curves on to symbolically celebrate the spiritual and physical nature of woman as mother, friend or lover. She describes each of her paintings as being, “…as much of an exercise
in design, composition and color, as they are explorations and statements of a moment in the female experience.”

Being a minimalist at heart, she strives for simplicity in design and statement. Painting mainly large canvases with acrylics, she paints her figures with lyrical black lines surrounded by vivid pools of color.
Her background is Fine Arts. Her style is graphic and her works are a synthesis of those worlds.

Ventura’s work has been exhibited in Toronto, Dallas and more recently in the Kansas City vicinity.
Since moving here a little over two years ago, her work has been displayed at the Human Form Exhibition, Overland Park Convention Center, Art at the Center Gallery. Next, came a solo show
at Twenty20 in the Crossroads Arts District. She is exhibiting at the Underground Gallery (downstairs), Kansas City Artists Coalition from May 4th – June 15th and is opening at the Eclectic Gallery
on Saturday, June 2nd 2007.

The Eclectic Gallery, inside Goodden Jewellers, is located at 1004 Baltimore Ave, Suite 101, Kansas City, MO, 6401. It faces the book spine wall of the Library’s parking lot.

Refreshments will be served. Free to the public.
