Amber L Harrison is a young up and coming Kansas City artist. At an early age Amber realized that art was more than just an interest or hobby, it was an outlet that could express emotions, and evoke feelings in those who view her art. Though she loves watercolor, photography, and ceramic works, Amber found her niche in painting oil on large canvases. Amber has an expanded painting portfolio of landscapes, waterscapes, portraits, animals, and abstract art. She loves the ocean, the beach, and all the vibrantly colored exotic flowers that grow wild there, and they have been inspiration for many of her pieces. Much of her work also conveys the feeling of expansive distance or makes one feel like they could step right into it. Amber is always creating new and different art, so that no painting looks like any other, while always staying true to the one thing that all of her paintings have in common, which is the hidden emotion and feeling behind the paint. She takes considerable time to finish each painting since she likes to add every detail she sees in her head on to layers of paint. Since Amber puts so much emotion into the paintings, she gets very attached and in the past didn’t want to give them away or sell them. She has let some go however, to fundraisers for Crittenton Children’s Mental Health Hospital in May 2006, Corks N’ Canvases AIDS Benefit auction at Boulevard Brewing Co in April 2007, and Children’s Miracle Network at the Woodlands Great American BBQ in May 2007. She also works closely with the non-for profit Alcott Arts Center where she has exhibited her art in the past and hopes to help grow their foundation in the future. Refreshments will be served. Free to the public. | |
